Zespol Szkol w Puchaczowie is a small school in a rural area, but in the same building there is a lower secondary and secondary school. Most of our students’ parents are farmers or coal miners. The area is intensively exploited by the coal mine. Our pupils have impediments from accessing cinemas, theatres, museums etc. Their journey to school is sometimes more than 10 kilometers. For most of our students the only way of learning more and having contact with foreign cultures is through participation in an organized school project such as Erasmus. We have 184 pupils aged 7-14. 12 students are eligible for free school meals and 4 students have a statement for special educational needs. Two students are disabled. However, our students’ test results are slightly above the national and area averages. Our school priorities are: - to provide students with the best learning conditions to promote the development of learning and comprehension - to enable children to meet different and mutual cultures in order to break down barriers - to promote cooperation and international contacts within the local community - broaden the possibility of learning foreign languages - through the contact with partner schools, to increase student’s motivation for learning - to prepare students for their future role as members of the European community - to develop and sustain contacts with foreign schools Zespol Szkol in Puchaczów is experienced in international and national projects.
